The client’s vision of the home was for it to be designed in the “Frank Lloyd Wright” prairie style. Since the Red River Valley is all about flat and horizontal, the house was designed to reflect the “Wright style” and be in harmony with the primary function of the landscape. The design solution resulted with strong horizontal and vertical lines throughout the homes exterior and interior by using large horizontal stucco roof planes and Dolomitic limestone tiered walls and piers. The floodwalls to protect the home from overflow of the Red River, were designed to match the horizontal stucco wall planes rising above the ground with a stone base, which undulated around the contours of the home.
